Bet365 Bog Plus Offer
In October 2016 Bet365 pushed the value to punter's
bar a notch higher with the introduction of their BOG
Plus Offer.
***********************************************************
Warning Later Edit - Sadly Bet365 no longer
offer BOG Plus. They must have deemed it too generous
to punters and stopped offering it. But note that it
is a special offer that Ladbrokes
now have their own version of. Some of the thinking
below about odds range sweet spots however should still
apply.
***********************************************************
BOG or Best Odds Guaranteed is a pretty common bookmaker
offer for uk horse racing punters. The core idea of
it is that if you take an early price and the horse
odds drift out later in the day to a Starting Price
( SP ) that is higher than the early odds you took,
you will get paid out at the higher SP odds.
So as a punter a bookmaker offering BOG provides you
with that extra piece of mind that you will not be stuck
with what may turn out to be a rubbish early price if
the odds on your horse drift out later in the day.
Piece of mind is a good thing. On our own service here
we always run with a simple refund Guarantee in order
to offer additional piece of mind.
So that is classic BOG for you.
How have Bet365 improved on that?
Quite simply they promise to pay you more than SP on
any horse that drifts to a higher SP price after you
have taken an early price.
Let's do a super simple example.
You bet £100 at an early price of 6/1.
Later in the day some numskull commentator on racing
radio professes his dislike of your horse.
The price drifts out to 8/1 starting price.
Your horse wins.
Under BOG you would get paid out at 8/1.
Under Bet365's BOG Plus you jump one up the odds scale
to 9/1

Are There Specific Odds Where BOG PLUS is Extra
Valuable?
Yes is the simple answer.
See below this table off SP Odds, the BOG Plus payouts
and the percentage increase.
A lot of the time the top and bottom of this table
will be non applicable to day to day racing action.
ie odds too short or too long.
I have highlighted a few in bold from
more normal horse racing odds ranges that may be worth
keeping a special eye for as they are sweet spots of
higher than usual extra value.

Spreadsheet
If at all interested note there is a simple spreadsheet
with that odds table in it here. Included is a pretty
ugly chart plotting SP odds along with their relevant
percentage increases. If you are an excel whiz feel
free to beatify that spreadsheet and send it back to
me :)

Simple Recommendation
£800 in your pocket is better than £600
BUT £900 is better than £800
If you don't yet have an account at Bet365
go sort one right now.
In addition to BOG plus I also like the fact that unlike
most high street chains they are Horse Racing Authority
Approved Betting Partners and thus help support the
future of horse racing.
Additionally a recent report indicated them as one
of the least likely to close or seriously limit winning
accounts. I sense willfull and deliberate improvement
from them on that particular score over the recent years.
But I doubt no horse racing bookmaker will ever achieve
100% perfection there. Pragmatically they are one of
the least bad according to poll of many many punters.
