Jargon Explained

1) Months of the Season

The Flat season starts towards the end of March and traditionally finishes in the first week of November. The Book takes into account the Full 7 months between April 1st and October 30th

2) Brackets

I use brackets to illustrate a specific record. As an example if I write that the record of Micheal Stoute in 2 year old maidens in September at Newbury is (6-21) , this simply means for readers not used to my style of writing, that he has sent 21 runners to Newbury in these races in September and 6 horses won. The 6-21 record simply means he had 6 winners from the 21 horses he had entered in this type of race.
