Yesterdays Summary
If you want my Honest Opinion about FAITHFUL WARRIOR I Don't think it was trying. Daryl Holland had it remote last around Tatternam Corner, he handled the track perfectly well and made eye catching ground on the heels of the leader and finished in a clump of horses having had a very easy race and a very quiet ride. I know it is easy to say "Non trier" but it was blatant in my opinion. Hindsight tells you that the comment Barry Hills made yesterday when he said "we want to see if he stays 10 furlongs as we have a race in mind for him at Chester at 10 furlongs" was far more significant than it sounded. Hills probably wanted to know whether he stayed without risking a penalty of their price at Chester, a meeting where he loves winners and is a steward. I Won't be around at Chester as I'm going to the meeting on my annual pilgrimage and this horse Shoots to the Top of my Chester shortlist as I think we were cheated here and backed a horse that had no intention of winning. That's my opinion anyway, you may disagree of course.
You want to bear FAITHFUL WARRIOR in mind at Chester as I won't be here to remind you. These things happen frequently just as STUNNING FORCE showed when winning at 11/1 yesterday after we lost money on him on his debut. Sometimes you have to see the bigger picture. I wonder now if STUNING FORCE was "off" last time as there were fortunes for it very early on. There have been a few more as well lately .One was probably the 2 mile staying handicap I previewed on April 12th. Last years race (2002) saw 3 horses unplaced in that race and they went on and finished 1-2-3 in the Chester Cup 2 weeks later and were all clearly given quiet "Prepatory" rides for Chester and were not "off" at Newbury. This year in the Newbury race (Which also incidentally provided the 2001 Chester Cup Winner) the same could easily have happened with several horses in that race and it's a familiar story all year as horses get beaten in Prep races deliberately in an attempt to win longer term targets. Maybe I should have been more aware of that yesterday but I do feel carved up a bit by Barry Hills and my losses on the horse will be recouped at Chester.

CHESTER MAY 6th, 7th, 8th
I never provide a Service at Chester as I always attend the meeting. It's the only meeting I religiously go to each year and I have stated this many times this year already so you will already be aware. I can do one of 2 things for you this year. On Sunday 4th, there is Flat Racing. On Monday 5th, it's Bank Holliday Monday with 4 Flat racing cards. There WILL be a service on Sunday and Monday at this stage, but I can give you a Choice, and the majority will rule and make the decision so I'm looking at Feedback. I can either do one of the following two things.
1) A Sunday Service (May 4th) with no Analysis , No Monday Bank Holliday Service at all , but I can prepare a detailed Statistical Preview of the 3 day Chester Meeting in advance of the meeting and send it Monday Night with a couple of race previews, (Chester Cup) and the Stats for the week
2) Sunday and Monday service as normal but no advanced Statistical Preview for Chester
I really don't mind which you would prefer so let me know and the majority decision will rule.
