1 Races Discussed
It was touch and go whether to do a message or
not today given there is valuable study time that
can be used for getting Cheltenham right. In the
end I decided not to do a detailed message. Just
a short summary to tie a few loose ends up and
a one race message that could offer a small bet.
Profiles and Preview Bets
Naas 4.30
Split Stake
Staked to £10 for guidance
£3 Win GOLDEN BOOT 2/1
£7 Win CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE 3/1 - 100/30 - 7/2
I could have staked this in many different ways
I've decided to buy the favourite out of the race
If he wins we will be not far off level
CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE would be the best result
He will give us a winner around 7/4 2/1 9/4
With the bonus of most stake back if the favourite wins
It's not a strong market and could go wither way
Don't worry if you have to rejig stakes a bit
Just try and ensure you can't lose much if the fav wins
Corals Hills Skyb Bet36d are 7/1 Captain Von Trappe
This Week
It has been a very quiet week as this one often is.

6 Profile and Preview Bets
Lost 7/4 - Lost 4/1
Placed - Lost 5/2
WON 4/1 - Lost 11/4
Small loss on the week but no major damage. It's
not been enjoyable though. We had a bet beaten
in a photo and another that went 1.08 in running
so a boring frustrating week. The aim was to just
not do damage in a dangerous pre festival week.
Tuesdays Message
Could be earlier than expected on Tuesday
but I can't stick to rigid times this week with
so much going on and the markets are very
strong so there shouldn't be any prices lost.
Tuesday's message will probably be the one
with the most detail and analysis but I do not
want endless never ending 90 line previews
this year so I will be chopping back slowly as
the week progresses. My priority is to bet as
many winners as possible hopefully enjoy a
good week of top class horses with a profit.
S a t u r d a y s R e v i e w
A Saturday that traditionally gets the life squeezed
out of it by Cheltenham and a day I never produce
a good message. Yesterdays did at least produce a
small profit from the two Profile & Preview bets so
far from a disaster. TOUSHAM won at 4/1 and made
it a winning day despite ARCTIC LYNX flopping.
P r o f i l e s a n d P r e v i e w s
I will start with my best bet on Monday
Arsenal to beat Man Utd
Not many will have got the 9/4 with Corals
but there is 2/1 available but I have split a
bet with Arsenal to qualify through the tie.
* Evens to Qualify is an option I like
* So to is the "Draw No Bet" market
* Arsenal are 11/10 to win with the Draw taken out
N a a s 4.30
9/4 Golden Boot, 4/1 Captain Von Trappe
9/2 Flight Plan, 5/1 Star Counsel, 8/1 Voisey´s Bay
14/1 Cornahilt Joe, 20/1 Champione
20/1 Wonderful Present, 25/1 Niamh Machine
33/1 Mist One.
This is a 3m maiden hurdle
There is no outstanding profile here
More a case of the horse with less to prove
STAR COUNSEL is a 7yo mare
I don't want a mare with just 1 hurdle run
She was hammered 34 lengths in that one run
Clearly had training problems. Not for me
CHAMPIONE comes here with 3 heavy defeats
He surely hasn't done enough to win
CORNAHILT JOE is wrong with 357 days off
WONDERFUL PRESENT is an unraced 7yo
It would be unlucky to lose to him
VOISEY´S BAY has only had 1 career start
Starting 66/1 and well beaten leaves me cold
NIAMH MACHINE doesn't appeal as a mare
Not going up a mile in distance
Beaten 31 lengths just 7 days ago is not ideal
FLIGHT PLAN has won a bumper before
He has had 3 hurdle runs so does have experience
He comes here after two heavy defeats though
There must be a stamina doubt by Strategic Prince
This sire has never bred a flat winner over 1m 6f +
He has never bred a National Hunt winner beyond 2m 4f
I would worry about him staying 3 miles
Shortlist
CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE
GOLDEN BOOT
Both are 6 year olds
CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE was an expensive purchase
He has raced just once over hurdles though
Well beaten in that 2m 4f maiden hurdle as well
I can't find a winner like him but I see him as the danger
GOLDEN BOOT has 4 hurdle runs
More hurdle experience than every other runner
He is a long way ahead on the numbers as well
By far the best form so far and proven on the track
EASIER To make a case for GOLDEN BOOT
That doesn't mean he has the best profile
I couldn't match either to a winner
I'm wary of ignoring CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE
When bought at the sales he was the 2nd highest purchase
The only more expensive horse was The Great Gatsby
CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE has a better trainer
He looks a better horse purely on his pedigree
Just cautious GOLDEN BOOT is syndicated
To be honest if either horse was a non runner
I'd be happy to bet the other one with some confidence
I'd be happy to bet either each way personally
Even if that would make some baulk at 2/1 and 100/30
My choice of bet is this one
Staked to £10
£3 Win GOLDEN BOOT 2/1
£7 Win CAPTAIN VON TRAPPE 100/30 - 7/2
