Final Deliberations

Softer and calmer message

Not feeling too ambitious

Several shorter priced bets

Needed to keep it simple

The first 2 selections
Are both win only bets
These can be combined

Stratford 2.05 - Global Famenglory 11/10

Naas 2.15 - Moss Tucker 5/2-11/4

Each Way Double

Will leave that up to you

Ripon 2.25
£2.50 Each Way Embla 16/1-18/1
£2.50 Each Way Iconicdaay 25/1

Whilst both horses lack class
Would not be at all surprised
If one or both went very close
Small stakes more of a fun bet
But I have a good feeling here
Would not take much to win it

Ripon 2.55
Valadero 11/10
Win Bet

He has an experience edge
Think he will probably win it
And may return at odds on

One of a few horses today
Who could easily be placed
In an each way double bet
Only 2 places in this race
But do still like this strategy

Naas 4.15

UNLESS 7/4-2/1

Win Bet

I'm going to bet her
But each way about 2/1

Selected her last time
Felt she was so unlucky

Needed a quiet day

After York and Saturday

Energy levels have dipped

Much as I don't like doing it

Having a Novelty best bet

Very rare each way treble

Stakes returns if they place

Nice returns if they all win

Yesterday's Summary

After a worrying beginning
The message came good
There were some low parts
Papa Don't Preach was one
Disappointing not shocking
At Thirsk's bermuda triangle
Was only beaten 2 lengths
By then we were 2-0 down
QUINAULT the account bet
Then won and did it easily
Well backed unfortunately
But an account bet winner
Made the correct decision
Bertinelli won put us ahead
Allo Al Khawaneej flopped
Mutasaabeq did not deliver
We had a few poor results
But the day ended nicely
Shobiz was the 3rd winner
It was a nice way to finish
3 winners and a place bet
Including the main account
With all of them good prices
Made it a good day overall

PROFILES & PREVIEWS

Stratford 2.05

11/10 Global Famenglory, 15/8 Shandancer
8/1 Astroman, 14/1 The Punt, 20/1 Pyrrhic Dancer
33/1 Crystal Times, 33/1Elpologreg, 33/1 Joe Cotton.

Maiden Hurdle 2m 6f

Looks like a match

GLOBAL FAMENGLORY

SHANDANCER

Nothing appeals against them
CRYSTAL MAN third favourite
Is only a mare from a bumper
Unlikely she will have enough

GLOBAL FAMENGLORY

Sets the standard so far
But her figures are flat lining
And she is a mare as well

SHANDANCER is a male
Don't doubt he could win
He has placed over 2m 5f
Will he be effective over 22f

He is from a sire who so far
Bred no winners beyond 2m
All 36 that tried were beaten

Part of the reason why
I am going with the mare
Better trainer on side too
Whilst her numbers flat line
Dan Skelton can improve
Last time out going up 6f
Made things harder for her
Close call but prefer her

Selection

GLOBAL FAMENGLORY 11/10-5/4

Win Bet

Naas 2.15

11/4 Mooneista, 9/2 Ladies Church, 9/2 Moss Tucker
13/2 Tees Spirit, 8/1 Arecibo, 9/1 Castle Star
10/1 Big Gossey, 16/1 Anthem National, Lady Tilbury
33/1 Saliteh.

Sole Power Sprint

5f Listed Race

Past renewals of this

Look insignificant to me

Some were run at Naas
Some run at the Currragh

MOONIESTA cost 850k
First run for Joseph today
After a 243 day absence

She could easily win this
But is a mare first time out
And Joseph said recently
She was late into training
Hinted she was a bit behind
Her main target Royal Ascot
Not taking that too seriously
But she could need a race

TESS SPIRIT is exposed
Improved a lot as a sprinter
Finally got a Listed victory
Her last 2 seasonal debuts
Were in Class 3 and 5 races
He has graduated to this level
But first time out listed class
May just be asking too much

ANTHEN NATIONAL a 4yo
Never raced over 5f before
LADY TILBURY is opposed
As a 3yo unplaced recently
ARECIBO is now 8 years old

There are one or two
Hard to read or rule out

MOSS TUCKER

Has been the best backed
Pricewise part of the reason
She would be my choice too

Racing Post Ratings
Last time out numbers
MOSS TUCKER did a 114
No rival who ran this year
Have a figure more than 102
That figure was good enough
To win most past renewals
Comes from a good trial race
Feel he easily offers the most

Selection

MOSS TUCKER 11/4

Win Bet

Ripon 2.25

11/4 Foreseeable Future, 7/2 Ben Macdui
5/1 Canaria Prince, 6/1 Atomise, 14/1 Glory Hallelujah
14/1 Van Gerwen, 16/1 Embla, 20/1 Brian The Snail
20/1 Iconicdaay.

Apprentice Handicap 5f

My angles have trapped me

FORESEEABLE FUTURE an 8yo

Older than all past winners
Comes down in distance too
No past winners managed this
And none had his weight either

Past winners show

Every winner
Was aged 7 or younger
Came from a 5f race
Beaten under 10 lengths in it
Carried 9st 7lbs or less

That led to this shortlist

CANARIA PRINCE 3/1

EMBLA 25/1

ICONICDAAY 25/1

CANARIA PRINCE at 3/1
Would be an easy choice
But no past winner of this
Raced just once this year

The two outsiders

EMBLA 25/1
ICONICDAAY 25/1

They are rated only 47 and 46
Lower than all past winners
So we can doubt them on class

But there are only 9 runners
They have more recent runs
Than any of their rivals have
And if we bet both each way
We'd only need one to place

Small stakes
Not too convinced
But the prices are great
Looks worth a small bet

Selection

£2.50 Each Way EMBLA 25/1 -20/1

£2.50 Each Way ICONICDAAY 25/1 -20/1

Naas 2.45

11/4 Ziggy's Dream, 100/30 Ribchestina
11/2 Bated Moon, 8/1 Launch, 8/1 Porta Fortuna
9/1 Navassa Island, 10/1 Jakku, 10/1 Making Time
10/1  What A Squeeze, 12/1 West Of Wichita
16/1 Neo Smart, 25/1 Blame Thechampagne
50/1 Smart Impression.

2yo Fillies

Group 3 for 2yo's

Not much to go on here
Not sold on the favourite

ZIGGY'S DREAM has 2 runs

Last seen at Chester 11 days ago
When I made her a saver that day
No winner came via the Lily Agnes
What bothers me more about her
She is drawn in stall 13 of 13 here

Several potential improvers
Make nailing this down difficult
JAKKU unraced drawn in 12
NAVASSA ISLAND unraced in 11
Both look unlikely to have enough
Hard to be definitive elsewhere

RIBCHESTINA

May be the play each way

Should have a decent chance

The Naas maiden she won

Is the best trial race for this

Provided the winner in these years

2009 2010 2016 2017

Seems as good a choice as any

Selection

RIBCHESTINA 4/1-7/2

Each Way

Ripon 2.55

11/10 Valadero, 3/1 Asadna, Strong Request
6/1 Fifty Grand Slater, 20/1 Jesmond Dawn
33/1 Sergeant Mayer.

2yo Novice

VALADERO has 2 runs
His 5 rivals are unraced
Should be an advantage

Back in the Brocklesby
He was heavily backed
Came with a reputation
Failed to deliver at Thirsk
But improved his rating
Would not oppose him
With an experience edge

Selection

VALADERO 11/10

Win Bet

Naas 4.15

5/2 Unless, 7/2 Persian Jewel
9/2 Lan Cinnte 6/1 Rival Queen
9/1 Sweetest Rose, 12/1 Hotaugustnight
12/1 Lan Mara, 16/1 Muhaarar's Girl
16/1 Kelly's Out,  25/1 Velvet And Vine
33/1 Pascalia, 50/1 O Merisi, 66/1 Anaelle
66/1 Dance The Flame, 66/1 Lady Kai
66/1 Lolyta.

3yo Maiden (Fillies) 8f

UNLESS sets the standard
Her 6 runs offer solid figures

Obviously the biggest worry
Will something overtake her
And simply improve past her

Faced that dilemma last time
When I fancied here at Naas
Felt Aidan wanted her to win
To increase paddock value

She finished only 2nd last time
But I felt she was very unlucky
Suffered quite a rough passage
Ended up on the wide outside
Finished best should have won

There will be some dangers
Capable of challenging her
There's a right and wrong price
Around 9/4 or 5/2 I'm with her
Would happily bet her each way

Selection

UNLESS  7/4-2/1

Win Bet

Naas 4.45

100/30 Broadhurst, 9/2 National Emblem
11/2 Kalikapour, 7/1 Fort Vega, 9/1 Amazing Show
9/1 Mere Accountant, 10/1 Betterdaysrcoming
10/1 Encosta, 12/1 Sea Chariot, 14/1 Spirit Genie
16/1 Long Count.

3yo Handicap (8f)

Past winners of this
Had the following runs

3 3 7 3 10 4

There are 3 horses here
That have raced just twice
Had a dig into that issue

Go back to 2009
Naas Handicaps
Run over 8f and more
Any class of race
Open to any age group
Any time of year

Horses with under 3 runs
Absent more than 38 days
Have a 0-31 record in them
The following horses fail this

NATIONAL EMBLEM
KALIKAPOUR
SEA CHARIOT

This is such a crazy angle
It is hard to take it seriously

Naas 8f Handicaps
Any time of year
Any class of race
Under 20 runners

Horses absent over 46 days
Drawn 5 or higher are 2-209
That feels a very poor return
Only drawn higher than 5 too
The following fail this angle

BETTERDAYSRCOMING
AMAZING SHOW
ENCOSTA
NATIONAL EMBLEM
SEA CHARIOT

SPIRIT GENIE looks unsafe
Needed a better run last time
LONG COUNT is only rated 75
Felt there were classier options

Shortlist

BROADHURST 9/4-5/2
MERE ACCOUNTANT 11/2-6/1
FORT VEGA 8/1

BROADHURST should go well
But 9st 12lbs is plenty of weight
Certainly considered as saver

No strong view between these
FORT VEGA got the decision
As he has two runs this season

Selection

FORT VEGA 8/1

Each Way
