Hi Folks

A bit of a mixed bag this week for you.

- Shameless Plug
- Last Saturday
- Horse Racing Punter Interview Part2
- Betting Calculators

- Cambridgeshire Stats

Shameless Plug

Let's get this over with first and out of the way.
If you ever fancy our paid race analysis service
simply go to our home page at

From there you can find join options for your pick of

Saturday Only,
Weekender
or
Full Service for almost daily advice.

As you can tell my time as an engineer taught me little about high hype.

Last Saturday

In quick summary there was some frustration as the main Account Bet got beat.
Guy split his stake across two horses.
By law of sod they came 2nd and 3rd.

More smiles came later in the day however.

Reverend Hubert  Won at 8/1 available around at message time but 13/2 SP
Then shortly after that
Al Hussar Won at 18/1 available around at message time but 14/1 SP

The full warts and all message is viewable at

Horse Racing Punter Interview Part2

A few weeks back I sent you out a link to an interview with one of our members.
Worth a nosey if not yet read.

One thing our friend Simon was keen to hear more about was how
other members used the service here.

So on Simons behalf I asked them and a few of them bothered to reply.

There is a bit of a mix of style and methodologies.
See here

Betting Calculators

One thing I picked up on myself from that part 2 above was
that several were keen on and had been long term doing well from
using multiple bets.

Inspired by that I thought I would have a stab at making
a calculator tool to help work out cash winnings from
doubles, patents or yankees. They can be win or each way.

Whilst in the tool making zone I made a separate one
for dutching. ie say you have two or more horses in a race
and you want to win the same amount irrespective of which
horse wins. It also lets you round stakes if you want to.
that makes it a bit more real life I guess.
Few will want to go to the bookie with a £24.69 pence stake.
Set rounding to the nearest £1 and it will output £25.

A second option on the dutching calculator lets you switch to insurance mode.
Here you are more so seeking to win net £0 should your insurance horse win.
Quite a few of the race advices put out by Guy here actually roughly follow
this insurance bet style. It is a style that can help smooth out a touch
the normal ups and downs.

Links to both betting calculators may be found at

Only code geeks may be interested in this next bit.
For these calculators I used react js.
It was my first time ever using it.
My impression is that the calculators run quite fast.

Cambridgeshire Stats

It has been a while since Guy sent Full members
any major race ante post stats.
Hence few of them to pass on in free news.
However they returned this week for The Cambridgeshire.

As ever he does not bother with the run of the mill commonly found stuff.
With odds available a factor of supply and demand I see little
long term edge value in looking at the same thing as the majority.

Phase 1 research is this below.
ie raw stats / trends / facts to do with the history of the race.

By the time Saturday morning comes Guy will have done more
to cross reference stats against actual runners and write it all up.

I know some of you prefer to do your own thing.
If so some of these may be of some use to you.
